Summary: This article discusses the advantages and the disadvantages of technology and learning. It, like many of my other articles, believes that technology is beneficial to learning, but this article points out one major flaw in the pro technology side of this argument. It states that technology dehumanizes the students learning. There are no longer emotions to anything they learn therefore they lose an essential human aspect to the things that they study. This author also argues that the computers do all the work for the students and does not allow them to grow and learn on their own. The students become computer dependent and can not function without one. They lose the ability to do simple problems because they are used to being able to just plug it into their computer and having it spit out a solution, and if the computer malfunctions they do not know what to do. All of a sudden they are helpless and have no way of solving their problems.
Synthesis: This article does disagree to some extent that technology is bad for the classroom. It brings forth a new argument about whether or not technology is dehumanizing the classroom. It does not come into conversation with any of my other arguments directly though.
Think: This article brought up a very good point. I would want to expand on this point by also station that with only computer learning kids lose valuable social skills that help them interact with other people, but even in this article the author says that the benefits of technology in the classroom outweigh the disadvantages. There seems to be no article that will simply say that technology is all bad.
Plan: I feel as if I still need more information on how technology is not beneficial to the classroom environment. I have still yet to find an article that discusses all negatives about technology.
