Question: How does technology affect student learning?
Source: Wood, Christina. "Is Technology Bad For Your Children?." Familypc 8.3 (2001): 52. MasterFILE Premier. Web. 12 Oct. 2014.
Summary: This article is not so much saying that technology in school is bad, but does show some problems in the way technology is used now in schools. It states that teachers do not pay close enough attention to how the computers are being used in schools, and that the schools have a duty to make sure the computers are being used correctly. This article also asserts that before we completely integrate technology into the schools we need to do more research on how this new technology actually effects students. We need to find out what technology works the best to instruct the students and what programs would work the best.
Synthesis: This article disagrees with almost every other article I have found. This article says that technology may be having a negative influence on students and states that schools may not be ready for a total integration of technology. My other articles state that technology is already helping students learn and has a completely positive influence on the students.
Think: This article raises some good questions, but it does not answer any of them. This is a good article for my research because it shows a side of my argument that I do not have a lot of research on. It did not seem to make a very strong case for its side though. It provided problems with the technology but did not provide any way to make the situation any better. Overall I am not convinced by this article.
Plan: I still feel as if I need to do more research into the side of the argument that dislikes technology in school. This article did pose good questions, but now I need to find an article that has answers to the questions that were brought up.
