Summary: This article focused exclusively on the Android Operating system. I provides brief history of the company and very useful statistics for making my argument. The android OS is based on touch inputs to manipulate virtual objects to provide information. The source code or communication language it uses is released by Google and is able to be freely modified by developers, manufacturers and even consumers. Because of this openness, android has the most applications for any operating system. The total downloads are over 50 billion as of July 2013. According to a survey Android is most used OS by developers; up to 71% of all developers have used it. Android works with many companies so their software is available from very affordable phones to premium-high-end devices.
Synthesis: My latest article doesn't really synthesize with the other articles because it is not an article with a direct argument. Instead, the article's purpose is to inform the reader of various features and statistics in the Android OS.
Critical Thinking: From the statistics provided in the article, I am beginning to get a better grasp of the vastness of the Android operating system. So many devices from so many companies run on Android. Google and Android have partnered up with companies like HTC, LG, Motorola, Samsung, etc. It's no wonder Android the top Operating system because its sheer numbers make it hard for iOS to keep up, especially when Apple is the only manufacturer of iOS based devices. Also, because of Android openness, developers everywhere can modify the platform directly and make it how they want it and then they can publish their changes for others to download. Android is so popular because of its ability to adapt, evolve and saturate the mobile phone market.
Questioning: My next step is to look for an informative Apple article and see what their approach is and how one company can compete with such an versatile operating system like Android.
